Rosemary Oil…..does it really promote hair growth?

Rosemary oil is a popular essential oil with several hair-related benefits, including hair growth. The botanical name for Rosemary oil is Salvia Rosmarinus and it’s believed to belong to both the sage and mint families.

The oil is extracted from the rosemary plant, which can soothe itchiness on the scalp and improve blood circulation around the hair follicles. Rosemary oil also contains anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties to eliminate build-up and is a potent antioxidant.

According to Dr Jeannette Graf, Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, “Rosemary oil can help stimulate healthy, thick hair, by speeding up the process of cell turnover and growth. Since it is anti-inflammatory, it is used for preventing hair loss, as well as regrowth.”

Simply massage it into your scalp 20 minutes before washing, to invigorate and nourish the skin on your head. It can also be mixed into your shampoo and is suitable for all hair types, regardless of age.

Rosemary oil is a staple in our Cher-Mere hair products, including Hair food, Hot Oil Treatment, Thinning Hair and Inatural lines. It’s also available as an essential oil at our day spas located at Trincity Mall, Mid Centre Mall, Chaguanas, 25 Robertson Street, San Fernando and 25 Cipriani Boulevard, Port of Spain.
